Privacy Policy
Last Updated: December 2025
At Citation Map, accessible from citemap.com, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by Citation Map and how we use it.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect personal usage data via accounts. Citation Map is a tool that queries public databases.
- Public Academic Data: When you search for a researcher, we fetch publicly available data from public academic sources under open licenses. This includes publication history, citations, and institutional affiliations. This information is already public.
- Analytics: We use privacy-preserving analytics (Google Analytics) to understand site traffic (e.g., which countries visit our site). This data is anonymized.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the data solely to generate the visualization maps requested by the user. We do not sell, trade, or rent user data to others.
3. Cookies
Citation Map does not use persistent tracking cookies for advertising. We use essential local storage to save your UI preferences (like Dark Mode).
4. Third Party Policies
Our site draws data from public academic sources. We only process public bibliographic records and institutional affiliations; we do not collect personal user data beyond what you voluntarily submit through the site.
5. Contact Us
